Carlberg Associates was chosen as the City of Pasadena’s Consulting Arborist for the two-year, $117.5 million seismic upgrade and rehabilitation of the historic Pasadena City Hall. As the City’s consulting arborists, Carlberg Associates successfully preserved and protected existing trees during this ambitious construction project, and selected new trees, shrubs and groundcover species that adhered to the Secretary of the Interior Standards for Rehabilitation.
Following project completion, the City of Pasadena received numerous awards for the City Hall Project from the design, preservation, and construction industries. As a result of the collaboration between the city, the design team, LEED consultant and the contractor, the Pasadena City Hall project achieved the LEED® GOLD Certification level by the USGBC, a noteworthy achievement for a historic building of this type and complexity. Pasadena City Hall has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1980.
